Afternoon Volunteer Helpers at DoggieWood (Ingleside)

Volunteers help is needed for a number of different jobs:

• Fold up laundry from the washing lines
• Store folded laundry tidily in linen room
• Tidy up dog yards after doggies go to bed. This includes:
• cleaning up yards
• tidying external bedding
• stacking kennels and tramp beds ready for hosing
• bringing dry food in
• checking safety and security of fencing
• Yard hosing

Corporate Giving Manager

A committed and energetic volunteer is needed to promote the inclusion of DoggieRescue.com in Corporate Sponsorship Programs. The aim of this is to capture the opportunity to attract corporate funding through our DRG tax status and you will have a small team to support you.
Your responsibilities would include:

• Contacting corporations to raise awareness regarding doggierescue.com and gain their commitment to sponsorship
• Maintaining ongoing relationships with sponsors and prospective sponsors
• Seeking opportunities to promote DoggieRescue.com through sponsors

A commitment of 1-2 days per week is required, with ability to take and make phone calls during business hours
The successful candidate will:

• Have proven ability to attract sponsorship dollars
• Build and maintain effective relationships within organisations and networking capability
• A demonstrated interest in doggierescue.com or similar organisation
• Be self motivated

Laundry Help

Can you help us with our laundry needs? We wash about 15 loads of washing each day. You can pick up washing, take it home and bring it back folded within a week. You can take as little or as much as you like. Alternatively, you could assist us in our laundry facilities on a rostered basis. If you are taking washing you can take as little or as much as you like as long as its returned within the week. Doggy Bathing & Brushing at DoggieWood (Ingleside)

Volunteers are needed to help bath new pound dogs on Saturdays. Hydrobath as well as dog shower facilities are available. You will assist one of our experienced kennel hands and/or groomers with this work. To assist in this area please contact Lize on 9972 7194 or lizesporre@optusnet.com.au

Grooming Assistance

We require groomers to assist our lovely groomer Caroline on Saturdays or Tuesdays at Ingleside. You must be qualified and experienced in working with rescued dogs. To assist in this area please contact Lize on 9972 7194 or lizesporre@optusnet.com.au

Customer Service People

Introduce people to their new "best friend"
Hours: 10am - 4pm (5pm summertime)
Rostered basis once every 2-3 weeks at our adoption centre, Ingleside (Tue - Sun), Alexandria (Sat)
Join our roster on a regular day to suit you. You will be responsible for welcoming visitors to the Doggie Rescue adoption centre who may be interested in fostering or adopting a doggie, or volunteering to walk, cuddle etc. You will need an outgoing, pleasant manner with people, and work quickly and calmly when it gets hectic. You will also be happy to follow some basic procedures and do general housekeeping to keep the place looking good! You must be over eighteen and training is provided.

Doggie Transport

Are you available on one or more days, and have a vehicle suitable to carry small dogs in crates or happy to drive a small manual van?
Crates are provided. It takes just a few hours per week or per fortnight (or on-call)
Where we need transport help:

• Hawkesbury Pound to North Rocks am preferably Friday or Monday
• Ingleside to Alexandria and back on Saturdays
• Mona Vale to Double Bay Mondays am
• Blacktown to North Rocks Mondays & Fridays
• Ingleside to Double Bay Mondays am

We always need help regularly once a week or once a fortnight, or on an on-call basis to transport our rescued doggies. Call Judy Yates on 0414 861636.

Dog Feeding

Hours: 9 am - 1pm (approx)
Rostered basis at Ingleside shelter Doggiewood. Join our roster on a regular day to suit you. You must be over 18 years old, have experience with dogs, excellent dog-handling skills, and an understanding of dog behaviour. You should be able to remain calm under pressure (it is like being on playground duty with a bunch of unruly kids, some who like to scrap, and need a firm but kind hand to keep them in line). You will feed them, cuddle and calm the new and nervous ones, give them loads of love and generally keep the peace! You should be fit, able to bend / lift, and willing to do general housekeeping to keep the place looking good! Food Preparation - Monthly

Friday Mornings in the Ingleside Area
8am – 11am (approximately)
Two volunteers are needed to assist in chopping and packing chicken bones.
This involves working with 1-2 other volunteers in a friendly environment.
You will need to be over eighteen and register as a volunteer prior to commencing.

Dog Walkers & Cuddlers

No need to call!
Pop in to Ingleside from 10am - 4pm Tuesday to Sunday or PetBarn at Alexandria on Saturdays only from 10am to 3pm.
First timers should bring photo ID to register as a volunteer. If you are under 18 years old please bring an adult with you too!

Rabbit Carers

We need volunteers local to the Ingleside area who can spare about half an hour approximately three times per week. This is negotiable. We need a responsible individual who can drop into Forestway Fresh (or any other Grocer convenient to them), get leftover greens from the back entrance and feed our bunnies at Ingleside.
Also, we need volunteers to assist in the care of our rabbits available for adoption. This may involve cleaning bunny hutches and feeding the rabbits. Sometimes we have up to 15 rabbits. This can be completely flexible according to your schedule.

Poster People

Takes almost no time at all!
Doggie Rescue has no budget to advertise or promote what we do.
But a very generous printer (Focus Press, South Strathfield) who have provided us with lovely coloured posters asking people to adopt or foster a doggie.
We need people willing to take 5, 10 or more posters and put them up in vets clinics, pet supply shops, schools, & community notice boards in their area.
Just one poster in Gladesville generated 6 calls - and resulted in 1 dog finding a new home - so please call us if you can help cover Sydney with the Doggie Rescue message!

Under 18?

Yes you can still help us. Here are some ideas:

• Walk or cuddle dogs – bring an adult with you
• Sell merchandise or raise money through your school
• Get some friends or classmates together and sponsor a dog
• Deliver flyers in your local area which can be downloaded from SayNoToAnimalsinPetShops.com
• Knit jumpers to sell in our outlets
